Sunscreen for all seasons
by Katie |  Sep 12, 2012

Now that summer is over, you can pack away your shorts, bathing suits and sunscreen, right? Wrong. Even as you pack away your summer wardrobe and start to cover up more of your skin with turtlenecks, sweaters and scarves, the sun is still shining. As long as the sun is shining, it has the power to damage your skin with its UV rays. Mr. Sun may be around for fewer hours out of the day, but its still crucial to protect your skin through the darkest season.

Now, it's unlikely you're going to slather sunblock on everyday before work or school all winter long. The best way to make sure you're getting the protection where you need it is to look for a daily lotion or moisturizer with SPF built in. Your lotion should have at least SPF 15 for the best UVA and UVB protection. It doesn't hurt to have one with a PA+++ rating, either. This means it was clinically proven to protect against UVA rays - the ones that cause signs of aging.

Another way to make sure you're all covered up is to 'skin'-vest in makeup that has SPF built in, too. I love Chantecaille Protection Naturelle SPF 46 PA+++ powder because it feels light and airy and makes my skin look flawless, yet also protects my precious epidermis from Sr. Sun's UVA and UVB rays.

Winter is no excuse to skimp on sunscreen, but it also doesn't mean you have to be pale! Use a sunless tanner  to be perfectly bronzed, but always remember to still wear sunscreen to stay insulated against those nasty rays that cause wrinkles and other signs of aging.
