There are few things more relaxing than watching the sunset. As the sun sinks into the horizon, the sky is filled with some of the most spectacular colors you didn't even know nature could produce. Neon pink? Some combination of blue and gold that are somehow one in the same? Incredible. Whether you're looking for a romantic date spot or simply a nice place to relax some evening, here are some of the most 'sun'-sational places in the country to watch the sun set.
If you want those water views
Watching the sun set over the ocean or a lake is double the beauty, because you get to see those amazing colors in the sky reflected on the water. Key West is one of the best places to do it. In fact, it has become something of a nightly event, with street performers and visitors filling Mallory Square to celebrate nature's great show. If you're looking for a little more serenity, head 2.5 miles south to White Street Pier, which is the southernmost spot in Key West with great water and sunset views.
Looking for color
The "reddest" sunset you can find is probably in the Grand Canyon in Arizona. You can join hordes of other hikers and tourists at Hopi Point, or you can head to Lipan Point at Desert View to see this deep pink sun cast light and shadows over the redwall limestone of the canyon. Seeing red was never such a good thing!
The Western classic
Of course, no "best sunset spot" list is complete without California, the continental U.S.'s westernmost state. The Santa Monica pier has a worldwide reputation for its stunning sunsets over the Pacific and the pier's giant Ferris wheel. Sit and watch from the beach or a tasty restaurant on the pier for a perfectly relaxing evening.
