Q: what spa treatments helped you prep for your wedding day?
A: I am a fanatic about my skin, and I stepped up my regimen even more for this once in a lifetime day. My two alternating Bliss facials were the triple oxygen facial and the youth as we know it™, both with microdermabrasion added. The combination of facial and microdermabrasion is priceless! The triple oxygen facial is my favorite facial. The oxygen spray at the end will do wonders for
your skin.
Q: were there any at-home treatments you swore by?
A: I recommend peels in between facials, and you can achieve great results at home with that's incredi-'peel'! spa-strength glycolic resurfacing pads. Other 'can't live without' products that I credit for my glowing skin are clog dissolving cleansing milk, fabulous foaming face wash, steep clean mattifying toner pads, pore perfecting facial polish, skinceuticals c + aha, no 'zit' sherlock oil control moisturizer, laboratoire remède translucent uv coat spf 30 and triple oxygen instant energizing eye gel.
That probably seems overwhelming, but keep in mind I am a complete product junkie and did not use everything at the same time. If you schedule a complimentary skin consultation, our estheticians will provide a regimen that fits your skin's needs, your time, and of course your budget.
Q: how about the hubby? did he do any (ahem) 'grooming'?
A: My husband, John, was my ultimate challenge as an esthetician. He was always a soap and water kind of guy. He would moisturize his face with (gasp!) whatever lotion he was using at the time for his body. This drove me nuts! Last year, I was asked to test some products and asked for his help. It changed both our lives.
He developed a regimen. He started using a facial scrub 2-3 times
a week, and would apply a soothing serum and moisturizer after shaving. He has been hooked since. Ladies, once the guys see the results, they want more. He has been a fan of bliss bar soap and hot salt scrub since my first week working at Bliss.
To prepare for the wedding, I introduced him to the clarisonic skin care brush. I also gave him regular backcials, snuck in a few masks and of course, groomed his eyebrows. Men love
to be pampered—after a little grooming guidance, you'll have to hide your own products!
Q: what's your professional advice for brides-to-be who want that wedding day glow?
A: The two concerns I hear the most from brides-to-be are clear skin and overall brightness and even tone. Every bride wants to glow on her wedding day! I recommend scheduling your first facial 6-8 months before the wedding. Depending on individual concerns, we generally schedule facials every 4-6 weeks. I also recommend scheduling your services with the same esthetician. You will form a relationship and the esthetician will get to know your skin and make proper adjustments as needed. You also want to give yourself enough time to adjust to new products and give them a chance to do their job.
Q: What are your thoughts on bridal brows?
A: Around the time you start your facials is also a good time to start growing in your eyebrows. Just throw away the tweezers. let a professional handle the brows. I have assisted in many brow transformations. It takes work and discipline, but the reward is always worth it!
Q: Now that we've talked face, how did you prep below the neck?
A: Body treatments are a must before your big day. To get clear, glowing skin on areas that will be exposed like your décolleté and back, you can add a chestcial or a backcial to your facial. A detoxifying and slimming service such as fatgirlshrink or fatgirlslim will help you feel lighter, less bloated and slimmer a few days before the wedding. Schedule yourself a blissage75 a day or two before; it's the best gift you can give to yourself.
Q: What about a pre-wedding waxing schedule?
A: I recommend your first wax at least 3 months before the wedding. The length of hair should be about a quarter of an inch long. You can schedule your waxing every 4-6 weeks. If you have not yet joined the brazilian wax phenomenon, now is the time! Your future hubby will be very thankful.
Q: Did you do anything special the day or night before?
A: My bridesmaids and I had a sleepover the night before my wedding. Needless to say, we did not get the appropriate amount
of sleep. The triple oxygen instant energizing eye mask saved not only my puffy eyes, but the girls' and my mom's and mother-in-law's as well. For a last-minute glow, we got our foaming magic on with triple oxygen instant energizing mask.
Q: Aside from your outer appearance, what did you do for your overall well-being?
A: I am a firm believer that beauty comes from the inside out. Preparing for your wedding day comes with many ups and downs. The best advice I have is to take care of yourself and your fiancé. I started juicing a few months before our wedding and immediately noticed the difference in my skin and energy. And I suggest you keep a water bottle on you at all times. Hydration is key for perfect skin.
Also, yoga yoga yoga! I have been practicing yoga for years now, and it is my sanity. Yoga does a body good, both internally and externally. If yoga's not your thing, find your own physical activity. You need 'you time', especially when things get hectic.
Q: What if spa treatments and lots of products aren't in your budget?
A: Don't feel embarrassed to ask for a facial from family and friends. Everyone loves to spoil
the bride and would love to give a gift knowing that you'll love it. You can also combine it with
your bachelorette festivities, or do a mother/daughter day. And a bliss gift card makes a
wonderful shower gift!
